Explosion on oil tanker off Syrian coast near Banyas

Syrian state agency reports an explosion on board an oil tanker off the port of Banyas on Sunday, shortly after a major fire broke at the state-run Homs oil refinery Banyas is Syria’s main port for taking on oil and fuel cargoes. The explosion on the oil tanker comes amid a series of mysterious attacks on vessels and oil facilities in Syria over the past months – most targeting vessels carrying oil from Iran to Syria.
