Explosion recorded near location of missing Argentine submarine

The Argentine navy reports an explosion near the spot in the south Atlantic where its submarine disappeared last week, with 44 crew on board. It was described as an “abnormal, singular, short, violent, non-nuclear event” The ARA San Juan disappeared last Wednesday. More than a dozen countries including Russia and the US have sent assistance. The new information was provided to the Argentine navy on Wednesday, shortly after it received a report from the US of a “hydro-acoustic anomaly” detected hours after the submarine went missing.
