Explosive residue found in wreckage of EgyptAir flight that crashed in May
Investigators from Egypt's civil aviation authority announced Thursday they will launch a criminal investigation as traces of explosives have been found in the wreckage from EgyptAir flight MS804, which crashed May 19 in the Mediterranean north of the city of Alexandria. All 56 passengers, seven crew members and three security guards aboard the Airbus A320 flying from Paris to Cairo were killed. Analysis of the plane's black box and its flight data recorder found that a smoke alarm went off in the cockpit shortly before the crash, but the pilots did not send out a distress signal or radio for help.
