Far-left Corbyn’s election as UK Labor leader roils party

Hours after longtime party rebel Jeremy Corbyn’s landslide election as the UK opposition Labor’s new leader, a row of shadow cabinet members handed in their resignations. At 66, Corbyn has spent his entire 32-year career on the backbenches. He says he wants to unite the party on “socialist values,” but at the same time boasts about his ties with “our friends in Hizballah and Hamas” as well as Holocaust deniers, presenting Jewish supporters of Labor with a dilemma. Corbyn is likely to continue to lead public demonstrations on issues he espouses, such as a ban on nuclear tests and Britain’s exit from the European Union and NATO
