FBI chief Comey opens widely-anticipated testimony to Congress
Former FBI Director James Comey’s opening statement to Congress Thursday is reported to have been approved by special counsel Robert Mueller, before it was released Wednesday. On three occasions, Comey told the President he was not under investigation as part of the Russia investigation. He also reported that Trump urged him to back off from the probe into his former National Security Adviser Mike Flynn. This is Comey’s first public appearance since he was fired by the president. After his statement, he will answer questions in open and closed sessions of the Senate Intelligence Committee.
