Festival lockdown from Tuesday to Thursday

Full lockdown including Intercity traffic goes into effect on Tuesday, 5 p.m. the eve of the second day of Passover until 5 a.m. Thursday two days later. The traditional high-attendance Mamouna celebration the day after Passover is cancelled. Bakeries will not reopen at the end of the festival on Wednesday night but only at dawn on Thursday morning. This delay is meant to prevent the usual rush to buy bread which is forbidden during Passover.
Announcing these measures, PM Binyamin Netanyahu said that life would not return to normal until a coronavirus vaccine was available. Meanwhile, strict discipline was essential in the foreseeable future and the economy restarted only in cautious steps.
