First findings from ‘black box’ of crashed EgyptAir flight released
Details are beginning to emerge regarding the May 19 crash of EgyptAir flight MS804 amid ongoing analysis of the black box that was recovered from the Mediterranean and sent to France for repair and analysis. The French authorities announced on Wednesday that the flight's data recorder appears to show that the reports of smoke in the cockpit before the crash were correct, and that they match reports received before the plane disappeared from radar screens. The black box also showed that the smoke detector in the bathroom was intentionally turned off, providing another indication that the crash may have been the result of an act of terror. Flight MS804 from Paris to Cairo crashed into the sea north of Alexandria.
