First names released of 13 Golani troops killed in battle

They are: Major Tsafrir Bar-Or,32, from Holon, Captain Zvika Kaplan, 28, from Meirav, Sergeant Oz Mendelovich,21, from Atzmon, Sergeant Nissim Sean Carmeli, 21, from Raanana and Sergeant Gilad Yaakobi, 21, from Kiryat Ono. Another name released later Monday was that of 1st Sgt Moshe Malki, 20, from Jerusalem.
The thirteen Golani fighters were killed in a number of engagements early Sunday, July 20, in the Hamas stronghold of Shejaiya district of Gaza City. Two of the soldiers, Max Steinberg and Nissim Sean Carmeli were US citizens, who grew up in America, relocated to Israel and joined the army. Five wounded men were evacuated from the battlefield to hospital Sunday night. Altogether 80 soldiers are being treated for injuries in a number of hospitals, five of them still in serious condition.
