The five Israelis killed when a cable car crashed to the ground on Sunday in North Italy were Amit Biran, 30, his wife Tal, 26, their daughter Tom, aged two and the grandparents, Yitzhak Cohen, 81 and Barbara Cohen 71. Eytan Biran, 5, was critically injured and is in hospital. The cable car taking 14 visitors to a mountaintop, 1,400m above sea level with a view of Lake Maggiore, snapped 20m above ground. The car then rolled down a precipitous slope until it was stopped by trees.
The Israel embassy in Rome is assisting the family and arranging for the bodies to be flown home. The family lived in Pavla south of Milan. The grandparents were on a visit.
