Five Russians killed in downed helicopter over Idlib, Syria
Three Russian crew members and two officers were killed when a Russian military chopper was shot down from the ground in Syrian rebel-held Idlib, the Kremlin said Monday. Russia's defense ministry was cited as saying that the helicopter, an Mi-8 military transport helicopter, had been shot down after delivering humanitarian aid to the city of Aleppo as it made its way back to Russia's main air base in Syria. The rebel group Jaish al Fateh claimed responsibility. Russia is backing the Syrian government in the civil war with military support.
