Formal coup charges brought against 99 Turkish generals

The Turkish authorities have formally charged 99 generals for alleged role in the failed coup last Friday. They are among more than 6,000 military personnel iarrested on suspicion of active complicity in the coup plot.

By Wednesday, more than 60,000 people had been rounded up, sacked or suspended from their jobs by Turkey's government in the wake of last week's failed coup, including 9,000 police officers and 3,000 judges.
