Former IDF C-of-S Benny Gantz – new face in Israeli politics
Lt. Gen. (res) Benny Gantz, a soldier for most of his life, registered the new party he has founded– Hosen LeYisrael (Strong Israel) – in time to bid for election on April 9. Gantz, the first new face in the race, was born in 1959 of two holocaust survivors, who were among the founders of the Moshav Kfar Ahim, where he was born. Gantz is married and father of four. He 38 years n uniform up until 2015 i, when he retired after serving as the IDF’s 20th chief of staff.
The names he released as advisers include Moshe Teomim, former political strategist during the late president Shimon Peres’s career in politics, Hili Tropper, Itay Ben-Horin, Tal Alexandrovich and Gili Alkavetz. DEBKAfile: Teomim heads the Gitam communications and publicity group and has advised a long list of public figures seeking election, as well as running PR campaigns for noted international business figures Teomim is also a member of the executive board of the Peres Center for Peace.
