Former VP Joe Biden announces 2020 run for US president

Joe Biden, Barack Obama’s vice president, announced Thursday that he was jumping into the crowded US Democratic party race to take on President Donald Trump in the 2020 presidential campaign. Already 20 hopefuls are in the race and could be joined by more. In the video he posted on Twitter, Biden warned that the “core values of the nation… our very democracy, everything that has made America America, is at stake.” In another jab at Trump, he said:  “But if we give Donald Trump eight years in the White House, he will forever and fundamentally alter the character of this nation, who we are, and I cannot stand by and watch that happen.”
