Four French hostages held by al Qaeda freed in Niger

The four French hostages were seized by Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) on 16 Sept. 2010 in raids targeting two French firms operating a uranium mine in Niger. French President Hollande announced Tuesday that the hostages were freed without a military assault or the payment of ransom.
