In a battle in the Deir ez-Zour governate of eastern Syria, two Russian military advisers were killed on the spot by terrorist fire and two others died in hospital. Three more were wounded. The Russian Defense ministry in Moscow, reporting the incident on Monday, said that several mobile terrorist gangs attacked a Syrian government artillery battery. The Syrian troops and members of the “Russian military advisers’ group” entered the battle, at the end of which 43 terrorists were killed and six all-terrain vehicles with large-caliber armaments were destroyed. Syrian anti-government sources report that the attack was carried by the Islamic State and that 35 pro-Assad troops were killed including 9 Russians.
