France impounds assets of Iranian intelligence, two nationals
Assets belonging to Iran’s intelligence services and two Iranian nationals were seized by France for their complicity in a bomb plot against a rally of the opposition National Council of Resistance of Iran held in the Paris suburb of Villepinte on June 30. Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani and several former European and Arab ministers attended. A German court Monday ordered an Iranian diplomat suspected in the bomb plot extradited to Belgium.
Earlier on Tuesday, some 200 police, some of them elite officers from Paris, raided a Muslim Shiite center at Dunkirk in northeastern France. Security sources said the raids were not linked to the asset freezes.
