French FM Fabius resigns, claims US lacks ‘strong commitment’ to coalition

France's Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius announced Wednesday afternoon that he had resigned from his post. President Francois Hollande said he would appoint Fabius as head of France's constitutional council. The successor of the 69-year-old Fabius, who had served as his country's top diplomat since 2012, has yet to be named. 
Later in the day, Fabius questioned the US commitment to the coalition against Islamic State in Syria, calling Washington's policy "ambiguous" and alleging that it is contributing to the problem, adding that "we don’t have the feeling that there is a very strong commitment that is there."
Regarding Obama's policy on the Syrian crisis, he said, "I don’t think that the end of Mr. Obama’s mandate will push him to act as much as his minister declares," he added, referring to Secretary of State John Kerry.
