Fresh EU-US sanctions target Russia’s energy development

The strongest sanctions aimed yet by the West against Russia’s support for Ukraine rebels target energy, banking and defense sectors. Above all, they curb Russia’s long-term ability to develop new oil sources by denying Moscow access to Western technology for tapping new Arctic, deep sea and shale oil reserves in the future.
