Gantz: As largest party, Blue White must form next government
Benny Gantz, in his victory speech Tuesday night at the end of Israel’s general election, claimed the right to form the next government, promising it would be broad-based. He spoke on the strength of exit polls which placed Blue-White slightly ahead of the ruling Likud (37 to 36, or 37 to 33 according to two TV channels).
Not so fast, Benny! While as a party, Blue and White may have more seats than Likud, but when it comes to forming the coalition government, Likud has far more allies on the right, including the “New Right” parties, UTJ, Shas and a few others, such as the far right Otzma Yahudit. The largest party is not necessarily the one called upon by the President to form the government, but the one best able to marshal its allies to form it!
Thats perfect as bibi has to serve zionist otzma jehudit and religious interests which will give us a religious zionist government. Best option of all, baruch Hashem.
If bibi derives from the course he will loose power so he is trapped to behave well.
Not being an Israeli, . . . I am not positioned to be able to opinionate upon the candidates, . . . but I do believe our prayers should include Bibi as he attempts to form a new government.
May God bless him and guide him is my prayer. He seems to suffer at the hands of his countrymen in much the same manner my president, Donald Trump, is in our country.
Thanks so much, Dwight ! You certainly belong in the circle of the Righteous Gentiles, and the Blessings
of Israel’s Almighty God will descend upon you and yours…Amen
