Gaza border fence mobbed by 5,000 Palestinians. 50 injured. Truce talks deadlocked

Hamas’ regular Friday mob disturbance on the Gaza-Israeli border fence was attended this week by some 5,000 rioters. The Palestinians report that around 50 were injured by IDF gunfire and tear gas before dispersing. Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman who inspected the scene said he was not involved in the truce effort and his only concern is the reality on the ground. Hamas spokesmen stressed that the ongoing efforts for a long-term truce in Gaza is deadlocked. They warned Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas that he would pay dear for refusing to hand over funds to pay the wages of tens of thousands of Hamas government administration employees in the Gaza Strip. They accuse Israel of being behind his refusal and say it is blocking agreement on a truce.
