Gen. Gantz: No government directive for ground action in Gaza

Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz Friday confirmed DEBKAfile’s reporting that the government led by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has refrained from ordering an IDF ground incursion into the Gaza Strip [to stop the non-stop stream of Hamas rocket attacks.]  Speaking from a paratroop base, the general advised a measured appreciation of the military situation rather than hysteria. “Nothing stops up going forward,” he said. “We don’t need the last straw for a ground maneuver, only a political directive.”
