German minister: We have no doubt Berlin incident was a terrorist attack
German interior minister Thomas Maiziere told the press Tuesday that there is no doubt any more that the incident at the Berlin market Monday was an attack. He echoed Chancellor Angela Merkel’s statement that this was a terror attack. The minister said that the man in custody denied responsibility for the attack which crashed a truck into a Berlin market, killing 12 people and injuring 48 people. He came from Pakistan on Dec. 31 2015 and claimed asylum, but never turned up for hearings on his case. His name does not figure in any security files on terrorism, the minister said. The passenger found dead in the truck was shot, but no weapon was discovered. He is believed to be the missing Polish driver, whom the driver is suspected of killing after he hijacked the truck.
