German police hunt Syrian feared planning bomb attack
Hundreds of police including specialist commandos combed a residential area of the eastern German city of Chemnitz on Saturday for Syrian-born Jaber Albakr, 22, suspected of planning a bomb attack. They failed to find him in a raid on an apartment, after an intelligence tip-off, but did find traces of explosives. Although the “where, when, how and why” of the attack was unclear, local residents were advised to stay indoors.
