Germany delays Iranian funds repatriation ahead of US sanctions

Finance Ministry spokeswoman Jeanette Schwamberger told reporters in Berlin on Monday that the European-Iranian Trade Bank’s repatriation of 300 million euros to Iran, to avoid the US sanctions squeeze, had been delayed. It is subject to a review by German Bafin markets regulator and the customs agency’s financial intelligence unit which scrutinizes transactions for possible money laundering or terror financing. Schwamberger declined to comment on newspaper reports that Iran asked for the cash to be sent by special flight to provide a foreign currency reserve before sanctions re-imposed by President Donald Trump go into effect in August. The delay in Berlin may defeat Tehran’s plan.

I wanna see smiling face of Iranian foreign affairs minister who just couple of days ago was laughing saying Europeans won’t support American sanctions.

In case of controversy, mister Hassan Rouhani should address mister Donald John Trump for the best possible deal.

It is Ok to delay a little, to give a chance for the better deal Iranians would like too, but are to proud to ask for.

Too bad that same scrutiny wasn’t done during the last month of the Obama Administration (all that CASH flown to Iran as a “deposit refund”, with interest none the less).
Could any administration be so NAIVE ??????????

Obama wasn’t naïve. He fully supported the radical Islamic regime controlling Iran. He felt that if the terrorists in power could acquire nuclear weapons that they would incinerate Israel.
