Golf diplomacy: Trump oks Abe’s offer to mediate US-Iran tensions

Sources in Tokyo report that President Donald Trump reacted positively to Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s decision to visit Iran in June in an effort to mediate tensions between Washington and Tehran. The conversation is said to have taken place on Sunday during the leaders’ golf match,  before Trump became the first foreign leader to be received by the new king and queen of Japan. He is quoted as urging Abe to set out for Tehran as soon as possible.
