Greek refinery signs Iranian crude deal as Rouhani starts trip to Europe
The largest refinery in Greece, Hellenic Petroleum, signed a contract on Monday to purchase crude from Iran's national oil company, becoming the first European firm to buy Iranian crude after the lifting of sanctions. No details were released on the amount of oil or the payment involved.
Meanwhile, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani kicked off a trip to several European countries to promote economic projects. He arrived in Italy leading a 120-member delegation including ministers, experts from various economic fields, bank officials and leading industrialists. Iran is expected to sign an agreement with Italy's Danieli steel company during Rouhani's visit.
The second stop of the trip is Paris, where Iran will sign an agreement for the purchase of 114 Airbus passenger jets.
