Gunmen attack Kabul’s Intercontinental hotel causing casualties
Afghan officials report that at least four gunmen stormed the Intercontinental hotel in Kabul Saturday night and were “shooting at guests,” including foreigners. An unknown number of people were dead or injured, including guards. Security forces cleared the first floor of the five-floor hotel, reporting two gunmen killed, but attackers are still on the floors above and holding hostages. Afghan police sources are also exchanging fire with attackers who were holed up near the hotel’s kitchen. An American security contractor said at least two floors of the building are on fire. Security forces have cordoned off the area near the hotel in Kabul’s Bagh-e-Bala neighborhood and have cut off the power
