Gunmen kill two Egyptian soldiers in army convoy near Cairo

A security official in Cairo reports gunmen attacked a convoy of mostly military trucks towing tanks and armored vehicles Friday morning between Ismailia and Cairo. The two soldiers killed were conscripts. DEBKAfile: Earlier this week, armed men on motorbikes opened fire on an Egyptian military vehicle in Port Said, killing three Egyptian soldiers. Muslim Brotherhood underground cells allied with Al Qaeda have launched a terror offensive in reprisal for the Egyptian army’s large-scale counter-terror campaign in Sinai.
