Haley: UNHRC makes a mockery of human rights

Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley announced Tuesday that the US was quitting the UN Human Rights Council, calling it a “cesspool of political bias” and a “hypocritical and self-serving” body that “makes a mockery of human rights.”  She made the announcement jointly with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
Haley said she wanted to make it “crystal clear that this step is not a retreat from our human rights commitments.” She has consistently accused the council of “chronic anti-Israel bias.” The UNHRC has also been widely criticized for accepting countries with questionable human rights records as members. The UN human rights commissioner, Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein, called the US withdrawal “disappointing, if not really surprising, news.” Israel praised the decision.

it is nice to know that the only human rights violations existing in the world only occurs in Israel. I though that the millions dying all over the Arab world and around the world are real. The world is in good shape to highlight the only human rights violations in the world. Bad Jews they should not defend themselves against terrorists…………..

Agree, ‘human rights’ are an insult, family rights, which our children demand, are the only human rights worth having. Charity begins at home.

Thank you Trump, Haley, Pompeo, etc. This is a step long overdue. We need a UN of good nations that are not constantly bullied by evil nations. It is time to dosolve the existing pro- terror boby and start from scratch. It should be an organization free of politics and concentrate only on charity ( helping people to help themselves if they meet certain criteria) and rescue missions.

Yes, and despite the US pullout, the UNHRC and the parent UN organization still plague the world. They need to be dissolved. Like you, I am not sure we need another international body of good nations (this time) to respond to international disasters and to crises.

In a sane world there would be no need for a human rights council. With the political alignments and the insanity at the UN; it is almost impossible to get a resolution passed unless you want one against Israel that is…
