Hamas fires 17 rockets overnight after Israeli air strikes in Gaza

The Israeli air force struck Hamas terror targets around Rafah and Al Burej after Friday midnight in response to violent Palestinian riots that day, in which a major was injured by a grenade. The targets included a new tunnel where explosive kites and balloons were prepared for tossing into Israel. Hamas hit back by launching  at least 17 rockets from 1:30 to 5:45 a.m. against Hof Ashkelon, Sderot, Sedot Hanegev and the Eshkol Council. Iron Dome batteries shot down five, during which a second round of Israel air strikes began over Gaza.
