Hariri returns to Beirut for first time since his resignation

Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri flew back to Beirut Tuesday night more than two weeks after his shock resignation announcement from Riyadh on Nov. 4. He is expected to join President Michel Aoun and Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri at the army’s independence parade later Wednesday. He first visited Paris then Cairo and Nicosia. On arriving in Beirut, Hariri drove to the grave of his father, the late prime minster Rafiq Hariri, before returning to his residence. On Tuesday, President Aoun called on the Lebanese army to be prepared “to confront the threats and violations of the Israeli enemy by all available means.”
