Head of MI6: Russian actions in Syria put UK at risk

Alex Younger, head of Britain's MI6 overseas intelligence agency, said Thursday that Russia's military operations in Syria may have tragic consequences and endanger the security of Britain. In particular, he denounced Moscow's bombing of the Syrian city of Aleppo, saying "Russia seeks to make a desert and call it peace". The spy chief asserted that the British people "cannot be safe from the threats that emanate from that land unless the civil war is brought to an end." Younger made the comments at a closed meeting with journalists invited to MI6 headquarters in London.
