Heightened security closes roads near Gaza after Jihad leader’s arrest
The Palestinian Islamic Jihad’s chief of West Bank terror operations, Bassam al-Saadi, was arrested with his son-in-law during a counter-terror raid in Jenin on Monday night. As a precaution against retaliatory attacks from the Gaza Strip, the IDF has closed all roads and rail routes to traffic south of Ashkelon, as well as tourist sites. The Erez border crossing is also shut. Saadi resisted arrest. He was bitten by a dog deployed by the force and slightly injured.
