Herzog holds White House talks with Biden

President Yitzhak Herzog met with President Joe Biden on Tuesday in a visit hat is still denied to prime minister Binyamin Netanyahu. As he flew out, the roar of thousands of protesters against the government’s plans to limit the high court’s oversight resounded across the country. Their second “Day of Disruption” targeted  peak holiday road traffic, railway stations and the Histadrut headquarters in Tel Aviv. The Trade Unions Federation secretary general Arnon Bar David has refused to bring the nearly million union members out on strike in support of the protest, an action that could bring the economy to a halt. Herzog is due to address Congress during his US visit, a tricky venture at a time of sharp dissent between the Biden administration and the Israeli government and raging divisions at home.
