Herzog presses on with UAE visit after Houthi missile intercepted

The United Arab Emirates said on Monday it downed a ballistic missile fired by Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthi movement on day two of the first official Israeli presidential visit to the Emirates. After talks on Sunday with Abu Dhabi’s Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, President Isaac Herzog visited Dubai’s Expo 2020 world fair on Monday. He said that trade between the two countries had reached a billion dollars in the outgoing year. He spoke hours after the Gulf state intercepted the third attack by Yemen’s Houthis in the last two weeks, including a deadly strike on the capital Abu Dhabi on Jan. 17.

Israel has responded by offering security and intelligence support to the UAE against further attacks.
