Hosni Mubarak retrial adjourned after judge withdraws
The deposed Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak was returned by helicopter Saturday to the military hospital where he was confined when seconds into his retrial, Justice Musfata Abdullah withdrew and referred the case to another court. A new date will now be set for the appeal against the former president’s life sentence on the grounds that the evidence submitted at the first hearing, convicting him of guilt in the deaths of 800 protesters, was insufficient and there had been procedural problems as well.
