Hottest day on record in Jerusalem
Israel goes into its second week of a scorching heat wave, with temperatures reaching 43º C in relatively cool Jerusalem, the hottest since the first records were kept in 1942. Temperatures were above the seasonal average in the rest of the country – 47ºC in Eilat and 34º C in Tel Aviv and Haifa. The first aid emergency Magen David Adom reports treating 700 victims of heat stroke and advises vulnerable people to stay indoors. The outlook for this week is not much change.
