Huge pro-Spain, anti-independence turnout in Barcelona

An estimated  1 million rallied for Spanish unity in Barcelona Sunday after Madrid stripped Catalonia of its autonomy for declaring independence. Some of the anti-independence protesters said that Catalan leader Carles Puigdemont, who was sacked by Madrid for spearheading the separatist movement,  should be jailed. On Sunday, a minister in Belgium said he could get political asylum there. But he showed no sign he was preparing to leave Catalonia and may decide to contest the Dec. 21 regional election declared by Madrid.
