Hugo Chavez, anti-US president of Venezuela is dead
Hugo Chavez succumbed to cancer aged 58 after winning his fourth presidential term but was never sworn due to his failing health. The controversial leader left a bitterly divided country. Chavez was popular with his country’s poor but hated by many for his social programs and left-wing foreign policies. He made a point of forging alliance with America’s enemies, such as the Castros in Cuba and the ayatollahs of Iran.
