Hundreds of military reservists join protest against judicial reform

Hundreds of special operations and active cyber reservists decided to opt out of volunteering for service on Sunday. They declared their support for the rallies sweeping the country against the judicial overhaul making its way through parliament “as a step towards dictatorship.” On Sunday, a bill requiring a majority of 90 for disqualifying a prime minister as unfit for office and barring High Court intervention faces its second and third readings.

Groups of reservists from elite air force and naval units earlier refused to report for training exercises to mark their protest against government legislation. Their commanders warned them that the armed forces must at all costs remain separate from politics.
