The Chief of Staff, Lt. Gen. Gady Eisenkott, has ordered military strength reinforced in Judea and Samaria in the wake of the terrorist murders of two rabbis in a month – Raziel Shevach in December and Rabbi Itamar Ben Gal on Monday. Eisenkott spoke during a visit to the scene of the murder of Rabbi Ben Gal outside Ariel. The head of the gang which shot dead Rabbi Sehvach was run to ground and killed this week. Rabbi Ben Gal’s killer is still at large. An IDF unit which reached his father’s home in Nablus Tuesday night clashed with a surly, stone-throwing mob and withdrew with suspected accessories to the crime, after killing a Palestinian rioter. The violent assault on the troops was repeated in Halhoul near Hebron Wednesday, during an IDF pursuit of the terrorist who stabbed a security guard at Karmei Tzur Tuesday. This time, Palestinian gunfire was reported. DEBKAfile: The chief of staff is concerned by the frequency and rising violence of these clashes of late, as well as the general state of security for the Israeli communities in the territory.
