IDF captain arrested on suspicion of stealing weapons

A 25-year-old captain in the IDF and his driver, a non-commissioned officer, have been arrested on suspicion of stealing weapons worth tens of thousands of shekels, including shoulder-fired missiles and hand grenades, from an ammunition bunker in southern Israel and selling the weapons to the NCO's father. The arrests followed a secret investigation by the IDF Military Police and the Israel Police. Three other suspects including the father were also arrested. The officer, a company commander from the village of Zarzir in the Lower Galilee, and the NCO, a resident of the village of Tamra, are expected to be indicted on Thursday at a military court. The three civilians are to be indicted at a district court in central Israel.
