IDF chief adds 3 more battalions to West Bank deployment
After visiting the Salam base near Jenin where border guards shot three Palestinian gunmen last week, IDF Chief of Staff on Sunday ordered the Judea-Samaria sector to be further expanded to seven battalions. The extra three consist of 890 paratroops drawn from Golani and Unit 75. He praised the border guard team’s swift and effective action and commended them for stopping in its tracks a large-scale terror attack for which the tree gunmen were heading.
On Sunday, too, the ID launched its broadest ever war game, dubbed “Chariots of Fire.” It will be conducted for a month as an exercise on all of Israel’s potential warfronts.
