IDF Chief of Staff demotes five officers for Nahal Hilazon disaster

Lt. Gen. Aviv Kocahvi, IDF chief of staff, has stripped a colonel who was the officer in command of a Paratroop Brigade unit, and 4 other officers of their ranks. He held them responsible for the death of Sgt. Eviatar Yosefi in a training accident in the Hilazon wadi. The chief of staff said the sacked officers showed unprofessionalism in their chain of command, ignorance of orders, lack of discipline and poor judgment in charting the exercise and the demands they made of the rank and file fighters.
