IDF exposes new Hizballah spy post across Lebanese border

An Israeli military release on Monday showed images of a new Hizballah observation post along the Lebanese border, the sixth of its kind to be sighted in the past two years. Hizballah watchers in the garb of environmental activists are depicted watching Israel through binoculars out of a wooden hut from which hangs the slogan “Green without Borders” in the village of Al Adisa opposite Kibbutz Misgav Am. The IDF spokesman said that these observation posts are a flagrant violation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701 ending the 2007 Lebanon war which prohibited an armed military presence south of Lebanon’s Litani River. DEBKAfile’s military sources ask: What was the point of this disclosure? Israel has filed several complaints with UNIFIL about the six Hizballah spy posts – to no avail. Yet the IDF has taken no action to remove them.
