IDF ground units stream to Gaza border
The Israeli Air Force struck 250 targets in the Gaza Strip Thursday night, ending Day 2 of Operation Pillar of Cloud for halting the Palestinian rocket offensive. They again targeted rocket sites and launchers as well as high-profile terrorists and tunnels. IDF armored, artillery and mechanized infantry units continued to stream to the Gaza border Thursday and Friday and are standing by for orders to embark on the next stage of the operation and cross into the enclave. Large numbers of reservists have been called up. Schools in several towns closed their classrooms for use as registration stations for military reservists.
The IDF is preparing a fifth Iron Dome anti-missile battery for deployment, after the first four shot down 150 incoming Palestinian missiles in 48 hours.
