IDF helicopter, elite troops extricate counter-terror forces under fire in Jenin
A counter-terror raid in the Jenin area early Monday was attacked by gunfire, flying explosives and roadside bombs after arresting two suspects. A Palestinian Islamic Jihad local branch claimed its members had detonated the bombs. The IDF deployed elite troops and helicopters to extricate the trapped force. Several injured Israeli troops were safely lifted to hospital under heavy fire. When anti-air fire was directed at the helicopters, one of them returned the fire. The Palestinians claimed two dead and 28 injured in the clash.
The IDF has begun armoring the undersides of military vehicles operating against terrorists in the Nablus and Jenin districts in view of the rising prevalence of roadside bombs.
