IDF officer badly injured by Palestinian sniper in Gaza

The IDF officer was flown by helicopter to hospital in Beersheba on Tuesday shortly after he was seriously injured by Palestinian sniper fired from the Gaza Strip. A military spokesman said only that he was hit by rocks and the circumstances of his injury are being investigated. In reprisal, IDF tank fire was aimed at a Hamas position for the second time in a day. One Palestinian was killed. The first tank shelling was sparked by a Palestinian shooting attack on an IDF patrol.
