IDF patrol was hit with nine bombs. Where was the bomb squad?

A patrol of IDF troops from the Home Front Command that was sent to investigate a suspicious object at the entrance to the village of Hizmeh on Tuesday night ran into an ambush that included nine booby-trapped explosive devices. An officer who approached the suspicious object was seriously wounded from the explosion of four of the bombs. Five others failed to explode. The possibility that some of the devices were activated by remote control is being investigated. On Wednesday morning, Hadassah hospital announced that the officer's life is not in danger.
The question remains: Why wasn't a bomb squad sent to deal with the suspicious object?
