IDF’s ‘Duvdevan’ commando unit awarded citation by chief of staff
The IDF chief of staff, Lieut. Gen. Gady Eisenkot, awarded a special citation to the elite "Duvdevan" unit at a ceremony on Thursday marking the 30th anniversary of its establishment. Duvdevan's soldiers specialize in infiltrating hostile population centers in disguise, especially in Judea and Samaria, blending in with the locals and capturing wanted men. They use unique weapons and classified technologies available only to them, and mainly operate based on intelligence received from the Shin Bet domestic security service. The ceremony at the unit's base was also attended by Maj. Gen. Roni Numa, head of the Central Command, Brig. Gen. Lior Carmeli, commander of the Judea and Samaria Division, and other senior officers.
